Suwanee is a small, vibrant community of about 10,000 about 30 miles northeast of Atlanta in Gwinnett County.  Suwanee experienced exponential growth over the past fifteen years and maintained an emphasis on preserving its natural and historic resources and is committed to providing outstanding services to its citizens and businesses.  Its enthusiasm for creating a true sense of community compelled the Georgia Municipal Association and Georgia trend magazine to name Suwanee a City of excellence in 2003.

In 2001, voters approved a $17.7 million open space bond referendum for the acquisition, preservation, and improvement of land for open space, greenspace, neighborhood parks, interconnected greenways and trails, and passive recreation areas.  Since then, the City has acquired more than 200 acres in open space property.  Two of the properties currently being developed are Town Center Park, which will be a 10-acre urban park, while Suwanee Creek Park will be a passive natural recreation area and will provide access to the Suwaneee Creek Greenway.
